Bei diesem Lied hatte ich vor wenigen Tagen ein tolles Erlebnis bei einem Treffen der Heimatvertriebenen . War mir eine Ehre jenes Lied mit alten Weltkriegsveteranen singen zu dürfen !

Are your roots german or polish ??

Yeah, I saw. *Prost* About my roots, I’m half German, half Polish. My Opa fought in Wehrmacht, and his Vater in Kaiser’s armee. I’m proud of them, and I have a deutsch vorname. My family from mother’s side is polish.
But I have to say, yes, my roots are German.
Besides of that, I simply think that Wehrmacht soldiers were good people, they weren’t Nazis. Of course, there were some “black sheeps”, but it happens in every army, every nation.

Tak …. ;o) … fine to hear that from you . I feel and think the same like you . The german army was a very cultural army . Also the orders of the leaders were ok . Dont forget it was war !
The russians didnt have any cultur in this war. their leaders told them, that they have to rape, steal and burn ! (Ilja Ehrenburg) … These orders the Okw (Oberkommando Wehrmacht) never gave !
